How can fifteen minutes of your time decide the future of the Oakland Township park system? Oakland Township Parks and Recreation Commission needs help in updating its Parks, Recreation and Land Preservation Plan. The plan will guide decision-making on the township’s park system and recreational programs over the next five years.
To present proposed ideas and receive input on this plan, the commission invites all residents to attend an open house at the Oakland Township Administrative offices on Jan. 12, 4-7 p.m. The office is located 4393 Collins Road
The open house format allows attendees to visit at any time during the event and stay as long as desired. Supervision and activities will be available for children free of charge. – Refreshments and snacks will also be provided.
Look forward to reviewing displays on all seven township parks including photos and concept plans. Ideas are also needed regarding active recreation; natural areas; trails and signage; and user conveniences. Special topics will include a new concept design for Marsh View Park; acquisition of new parkland; and opportunities for nature study and recreation programs.
Contributing to the fun and excitement of the event will be the opportunity to meet a former Detroit Lions player and his special guest as they show their support for the township park system and sign autographs for participants.
