Ideas wanted for playground

When Friends of Depot Park Playground meet for the first time Tuesday, May 13, they hope for comments from the community, especially parents of small children.
‘They know what they’d like to see in the park,? said volunteer Gini Schultz.
Some of the play equipment in the park, such as the rusty play locomotive at the entrance to the playground, is in need of replacement, Schultz said.
Parents and guardians at the playground with their children May 5 had some ideas.
‘Maybe a couple more swings for little kids ? that would be a real plus,? said Susan Mazur.
‘Definitely more swings,? said Edward Mazur.
‘A merry-go-round? That was my favorite when I was little,? Susan said. ‘Are teeter-totters safe? Probably not.?
Marie Diederich said ground covering could be updated, as at other parks.
‘Instead of mulch, they have flooring made of something like recycled tires, something rubbery,? said Marie Diederich. ‘It’s pliable, better than dirt and wood chips.?
A big sand area with swinging shovels would make a nice addition, said Alysa Komisarz.
‘The kids love the slide,? Komisarz said. ‘Maybe more climbing things??
The project will depend on donations, Schultz said.
The meeting is set for 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 13, in the village hall, 375 Depot Road, next to the park.
