The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) will conduct a public information meeting Tuesday, Jan. 31, to share information about the planned 2013 resurfacing of Rochester Road from south of Lakeville Road to the southern Leonard Village limits in Addison Township.
The meeting will run from 4 to 7 p.m. and will take place at the Addison Township Hall, 1440 Rochester Road (just east of Lakeville Road/Rochester Road intersection).
The meeting will be open-house format ? there will be no formal presentation, and anyone interested can stop by at any time during this period to ask questions, review plans or speak with an RCOC representative.
The project will involve placing a new asphalt surface on this section of Rochester Road as well as making safety improvements.
It will also include resurfacing approximately 400 feet of Lakeville Road west of Rochester Road.
The safety improvements include: paved shoulders, pavement widening on some curves, sight distance improvements where necessary and guardrail installation/replacement where necessary.
Also included are some drainage improvements, including construction of concrete curbs and gutters where appropriate.
The project includes minor tree removal on Yule Road at the intersection with Rochester Road. Yule Road is designated a natural beauty road.
The tree removal will not impact the road’s designation, but public comments on this are welcome at the meeting.
Sections of Rochester Road within the project area will be closed to through traffic at times during the project.
Access to homes and businesses within those sections will be maintained at all times.
The project is expected to start in spring 2013 and be completed in fall 2013.
