Keeping the light shining

Clarkston Free Methodist Church hosted the Halloween alternative Light the Night, Friday evening.
“We thought we’d offer this for families to try instead of scary stuff,” said Amy Peterson, who offered her home in Independence Township for the outreach. “It’s different, bright, happy, fun, and safe. This is a great way to reach out to neighbors.”
The ’70s-theme celebration included music, dancing, games, popcorn and cider. This is its first time in the Clarkston area, based on a nationwide idea.
“We hope to expand it next year,” Peterson said.
