The Lake Orion varsity girls soccer team lost to Grand Blanc 2-1 in regional competition in Midland on June 8.
The contest featured a goal from Rachel Bemman on an assist from Holli Finneren, and the Dragons started out dominating play for 15 minutes.
‘Grand Blanc was a good team that executed their set pieces for goals,? said Lake Orion coach Ken Snage.
The Dragons ended the season 11-9-2 overall, and 2-1 for the post-season competition.
‘We improved over last season, and we intend to improve again next season,? Snage said. ‘I had a young team with three graduating seniors, and strong leadership from Finneren, Stephanie Keteyian and Jillian Whiteside.?
Jessica Boyle was named an All League player, and according to Snage, was ‘simply one of the best players in the league and the state.?
Lake Orion was selected as an All State Academic Team, with a 3.96 team GPA. Keteyian, Whiteside and Heather Temple were named to the All State Academic Team.
Name to the All District Team were Dragons Finneren, Boyle, Whiteside, Shelley Marick, Jenna Hill and Amelia Cortis.
