Brad Lawrence and Trevor DeWitt paced the Brandon boys cross country team to a upper-half finish at the Linden Invitational Sept. 20.
The Blackhawks finished 7th out of 16 teams in the competition with 209 points. Crestwood won the invite with 50 points, while St. Clair finished 2nd (55) and Fenton 3rd (85).
Lawrence was the leading runner for the Blackhawks, finishing 21st with a time of 17:54, while DeWitt finished 28th (18:21).
Other Brandon competitors were Chris Holton (45th, 18:51), Steve Sanday (58th, 19:22), Jared Blunk (61st, 19:30), Dylan Kent (64th, 19:45) and Jeremiah DeJose (72nd, 20:17).
On Sept. 18, the Blackhawks split their meet, losing to Linden 26-29 and defeating Lapeer East 26-30.
Lawrence was the leading runner for the Blackhawks, finishing third overall with a time of 19:39. DeWitt was next (fourth, 19:50), followed by Blunk (10th, 20:41).
Other Brandon runners were Holton (11th, 20:56), Sanday (12th, 21:04), Kent (15th, 23:26) and DeJose (17th, 23:30).
Brandon’s next meet is Wednesday, Oct. 1 when they travel to Fenton for a 4 p.m. meet.
