Lighthouse is asking for help providing low-income students in kindergarten through ninth grade with new backpacks, three-ring binders, lunch boxes/bags, and other school supplies. Socks, underwear and gift cards to local clothing and shoe stores are also needed.
The organization helped 536 children get off to a good start in 2006, and expects an increase in requests for the 2007 school year.
Drop off donations Mon., Aug 13 from 9 a.m.- noon at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 5660 Maybee Road. Donations can also be taken to Lighthouse, 6330 Sashabaw Road, until Aug. 10. For more information call 248-620-6116.
