At 7:30 p.m., April 24 the Goodrich FAME (Fine Arts: A Mainstream in Education) will present ‘Like Water Drum & Dance? at Goodrich High School’s Raymond C. Green Center for the Performing Arts, 8029 S. Gale Road, Goodrich.
The Michigan-based percussion and dance troupe, ‘Like Water Drum & Dance? delivers explosive performances of dance and West African rhythms. Athletic performers, hand-crafted instruments, authentic costumes and high-energy unity combine to impress, enlighten and exhilarate audiences. The group raises African and world cultural awareness, social consciousness, as well as the ideals of unity and community. They play traditional West African instruments including djembes (goblet-shaped hand drums), dununs (bass drums), balafons (wooden xylophones), krin (log drums), as well as shakers and vocals.
An athletic art form, the performers maintain a rigorous rehearsal and study schedule, continuously honing their craft and elevating their game.

As part of the season finale, FAME will be showcasing the artistic talent of Goodrich students, whose work is being displayed throughout the area and at the Michigan Historical Museum Library in Lansing. The art gallery, will feature African-inspired works of art by the K-12 students including masks, drums, elephants, printed textiles, and more. Some of the students have donated pieces of their artwork for a silent auction that will take place throughout the evening.
