Lions are giving away pups

Who wants tickets to Disney World?
That’s only one of the items up for grabs at the November 3 ‘Christmas for Everyone? charity auction put on by the Lake Orion Lions Club at Milosch’s Palace Auto dealership.
Lions member and auction organizer Rich Howard said the dinner normally has ‘a great turnout.? Money raised is brought to local merchants like Hollywood Markets, Kroger’s, Meijer and Sam’s Club where purchases are made to assemble Christmas baskets for families across the Orion area.
In 2011, the basket program served about 250 families in the Lake Orion community. That amounted to about a half truckload per family, or about a month of food, Howard said.
The Lions will hold three auctions on Nov. 3: a silent auction from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m., a live auction beginning at 8:20 p.m. and a fishbowl auction.
Some items to be auctioned include two AKC-registered male chocolate lab puppies, gift certificates to local businesses, golf packages from local golf courses, a vacation package to a beautiful cabin up on Torch Lake, by Grand Traverse Bay, and many more items.
In addition to the auction, a great dinner will be catered by Corleone’s catering, and a DJ will be on hand for those interested in cutting a rug.
For the Christmas charity auction, the Lions are collecting toys and food to be placed in boxes located in local establishments. You can find one of these drop-off boxes at the Lake Orion Review office at 30 N. Broadway.
Another way to help out is by dropping a donation by the Lions Club office or by calling Rick Howard at 248-736-1245 to pick it up.
Admission to the Christmas for Everyone Charity auction is $30 in advance and $40 at the door.
Tickets can be purchased at Milosch’s, or by calling Jim Leech at 248-561-3203.
