The Lake Orion Baptist School Lions split their two FBAC contests last week, losing on the road before winning at home to even up their overall record at 6-6.
The week started with a Jan. 16 trip to Rochester Hills Christian, and the host Eagles prevailing 70-56.
The Lions trailed 45-21 at halftime, and their 21-7 fourth quarter rally was not enough to offset the early lead.
Matt Dobis led the Lions with 14 points, while pulling down 16 rebounds. Zach Halleck scored 13 points and added seven rebounds.
Ben Cuyler added 10 points and five assists, and Erick Dewar had 12 points in the loss for the Lions. The Eagles, led by Jon West’s 21 points, are 7-0.
Last Friday, the Lions returned home, topping the Waterford Baptist School Wildcats 52-32.
The hosts jumped out to an 18-6 first quarter lead, and led 33-16 at halftime.
Unfortunately, news was not all good for the Lions, as they lost Halleck in the second quarter to a cut in the forehead that required stitches.
In his absence, the bench stepped up for the Lions, with everyone getting some good floor time.
Ben Cuyler moved from the point guard position to an off-guard spot, where he promptly scored 20 points and added six rebounds and six assists.
Matt Dobis had 6 points and 17 rebounds, James Moreno, playing point guard, had eight points and five assists, and Chris Hojnacki added four points. Jon Jenkins scored his first two points of the season to the delight of the fans.
The Lions improved to 2-5 in the FBAC and travel to Bethany Christian School of Troy on Friday.
