Lions raise over $20,000 for X-mas

Puppies, ducks, and hedgehogs.
You’d be forgiven if you thought the ‘Christmas for Everyone Christmas? Auction took place at a petting zoo this year. Put on by the Lake Orion Lions Club and held at Milosch’s Palace Chrysler Jeep and Dodge, this year’s dinner and auction was another roaring success.
According to Chairman James Leach, Jr. the night saw between 200 to 300 people attend, and in excess of $20,000 was raised.
Up for auction were two adorable chocolate Labrador puppies, which commanded $500 each. High dollar went to four hand-carved wooden decoys which went to the Milosch family for a whopping $5,400.
Funds raised will be put to good use, Leach said. These dollars are used to purchase items from local businesses, Hollywood Markets, Kroger, Meijer, and Sam’s Club and then placed in baskets to assist families around the area.
These baskets will be assembled on Dec. 21 and 22. If you’d like to help put them together, call Leach at 248-561-3203. You can also look for the Lions in the Lake Orion Holiday parade on Dec.1.
