Liquid Lightning celebrates winning season

Lake Orion Liquid Lightning swim team ended their season on a winning note.
Ashley Corriveau won two State Championships at the recently concluded thirteen and over State Meet held at Eastern Michigan University. Corriveau bested the field in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle. She also finaled in the 100-yard butterfly.
Also scoring individual points were Jacob Lindquist in the senior boys 100 and 200 breaststroke, Hannah Kopydlowski in the 13 and 14 girls 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke, and Courtney McClear in 13 and 14 girls 100 yards freestyle.
All of the Liquid Lightning relay teams scored. Members included Kopidlowski, McClear, Emily Shallman, Kristen Finney and Milan Spampinato, Josh Greib, Steve Abramczyk, Dan Pecheniuk, Craig Matola and Zach Deiner, Corriveau and Haley Kornburger, and senior boys, Jacob Lindquist, Will Cavender, Drew Fritsch and Zach Nowicki.
The twelve-and-under state meet also yielded strong results for the Lake Orion team. Scoring individual points were Mitchell Corriveau in 50 freestyle; Kornburger in 50 freestyle, and 50 and 100 butterfly; Devon Nowicki in 50, 100 and 200 breaststroke; and D.J. Seeds in 100 and 200 backstroke. The boys relay team of Danny Olthof, Cheyne Stresky, Nowicki and Seeds scored in both the 200 free and the 200 medley relays.
Two Liquid Lightning swimmers travelled to Indianapolis March 26 ? 29 for the Central Zone Sectional Meet. This senior competition lumped the best swimmers from ten states from New Jersey to Indiana. There, Lindquist gained valuable experience being young in the senior division and a first time qualifier. Ashley Corriveau swam well and placed second and third in the consolation finals in her speciality events, the 100 and 50 meter freestyles.
