LO Baptist splits

The Lake Orion Baptist School Lions had a 61-48 victory over the Antioch Baptist School Knights in Warren on Feb. 10.
The Lions were led by Justin Rettger with 24 points, 12 rebounds, two steals, and one assist. Rettger was 4 for 6 from the free throw line. Matt Verley had 19 points for the Lions, as well as 25 rebounds. Brandon Watterworth scored 12 points and had 13 rebounds for the team.
Freshman Jon Moreno started at point guard for the Lions and had good defense and ball handling all evening. He finished with four points and one assist. Brad Schick rounded out the scoring with two points.
On Feb. 11, the Lions played at Roseville against the Faith Baptist School Eagles of Warren, and lost that game 46-37.
The Lions were led by Watterworth with 21 points, 17 rebounds and six steals, including three blocked shots and one assist. Rettger had 14 points, eight rebounds and three steals. Verley checked in with two points and nine rebounds.
The Lions will be playing in the Michigan Association of Christian Schools tournament starting on Feb. 25, following regular season play. The team was seeded in fourth position from eight teams and will be playing the fifth-seeded Waterford General Christian School at Lake Orion Baptist Gymnasium. Game time will be announced later.
