The Lake Orion High School varsity softball team continued their hot streak as they prepared to put a cap on their winning 2004 season, taking the Division I District Championship over Romeo.
The Dragons began district play on June 1, defeating Oxford, 13-8. Kristen Larsen had three hits for the winning team, while Nichole Woityra had four hits and five RBI.
Robin Roe was the winning pitcher against the Wildcats, and teammates Kelsey Stout and Lisa McDonald each had two RBIs.
The team defeated Stoney Creek in the semi-final game, as Roe threw a one-hitter with two outs.
Lauren LaPine had three hits, while Stout had two hits and three RBI.
The Dragons defeated Romeo in the final, 5-2, as Roe was once again the winning pitcher. McDonald had two RBI for the team, while Bristel Brumitt had a triple.
Lake Orion takes their 28-8 record up against the winner of the Troy District in the Utica Regional.
