A brutal day to take a swim’a great day for a plunge.
About 70 individuals were present at the third annual Polar Bear Plunge’held at the Washburn Road home and pond of Nick Sesock. The plungers braved the elements to collect pledges to benefit the Bloomfield Firefighters Benevolent Fund. More than $5,000 was raised on Saturday.
‘The air actually felt better than the water,? said Sesock, a Bloomfield firefighter. ‘Either way, it’s a great day for firefighters and friends.?
‘The warming weather was a factor’when we cut the ice on my pond on Thursday there was about 13 inches’by Saturday it was reduced to about 8 inches.?
Due to the spring conditions, Sesock said they may move the event to the last weekend in February.
