Leslie Ashley’s suggestion to help the’autism’programs at’Lake Orion Community Schools’was recently selected as the winner of the ‘Give a Little and Win Big? sweepstakes, sponsored by Co-op Services Credit Union.
From October through January, Co-op Services invited the community to take up the challenge of submitting an idea for using one hundred dollars to benefit others, with the most creative entry to be awarded a thousand dollars.?
Leslie Ashley’s idea was chosen by the credit union’s’panel of judges’as the most creative from the dozens of entries received.
‘My husband and I just bought a new washer and dryer and donated the old ones to the autism program at the school,? said Ashley, who works in’the Lake Orion Community Schools? middle school where the autism programs are held.? ‘They needed some extra money to get them hooked up, and the $1,000 will now be used to get the washer and dryer hooked up and for some other basic items.? This money is going to go a long ways.?
According to Lisa Fawcett, Co-op Services Credit Union marketing director, the credit union is continually seeking ways to encourage people to give back to the community.?
Co-op Services community initiative Project 100 was initially launched in 2009 and has received recognition and awards nationwide for encouraging giving in southeast Michigan
