M-15 Heritage Route summit

From 9:30 a.m.-2:45 p.m., Dec. 8, a M-15 Heritage Route Summit-Conference will be held at Covenant Hill Camp, 10359 Farrand Road, Otisville. The day- long meeting will focus on the Heritage Route, an 84-mile stretch of M-15 that begins in Clarkston and ends at Bay City, incorporating Atlas, Brandon and Groveland townships.
Atlas Township Supervisor Shirley Kautman-Jones said the summit is a great opportunity for residents and businesses to learn more about the potential of M-15.
‘You don’t need to have frontage on M-15 to realize the potential,? said Kautman-Jones. ‘The area residents and businesses attending the summit will learn more about the opportunities of the M-15 corridor’including service providers such as attorneys and insurance. The summit was formed for economic development along M-15.?
Featured in the summit will be how the Heritage Route benefits the communities, the rail-trail development in Michigan and funding opportunities for recreational/non-motorized facilities. John Cherry, from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, along with Matt Opsommer, Michigan Department of Transportation, will discuss the MDOT Enhancement Grant and the MDNR Trust Fund for developing recreational and non-motorized facilities.
Also, the summit will include a workshop presented by Jill Doederlein, of Baker College to create brand equity and add value and planning for local festivals.
