Richard James Marshall, 54 of Waterford, was killed May 28 on I-75 in Independence Township
Michigan State Police, Independence Township Fire Department, Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Independence Township substation and Clarkston Police responded to the scene.
According to state police, Marshall ran into traffic on southbound I-75 near the Holcomb overpass, between Dixie Highway and M-15 in Independence Township.
Witnesses told police Marshall parked his pickup truck along the shoulder of southbound I-75, exited the vehicle and squatted in front of the truck before jumping into the path of an oncoming minivan.
The man was thrown ‘several feet? by the impact, and died at the scene.
According to his obituary with Kinsey-Garrett Funeral Home, Royal Oak, he was a sales representative for Heimstadt Associates, married, with three children.
