Man loses car, wallet to carjacker at medical center

A 75-year-old Lake Orion man was transported to Crittenton Hospital in Rochester after he was carjacked in the parking lot of the Bald Mountain Regional Medical Center on Lapeer Road.
The man was not seriously injured in the incident, but was complaining of shortness of breath after the attack, which took place in the parking lot of the facility on Nov. 3.
According to an Oakland County Sheriff’s Department report, the man told deputies he had come out of the facility’s pharmacy, where he was picking up a prescription, when a black male followed him outside.
He told deputies the man threw him to the ground and pointed a knife at him, telling him to give him his car keys.
The man also demanded money and took the Lake Orion man’s wallet, along with his keys. The suspect then fled the scene in the man’s vehicle.
OCSD deputies recovered the man’s wallet near Kmart on Lapeer, after locating a man that was believed to be the suspect.
