In their pursuit of the Genesee Area Conference title, the Goodrich boys golf team stopped to pick up a bit of hardware.
The Martians won the Division III-IV portion of the 25th annual Genesee County Tournament Sept. 22. Goodrich tied with LakeVille for first place, with each team shooting 332. However, the Martians won the title on a fifth-man tiebreaker.
Montrose finished in second place (340), followed by Bentley and Byron.
Flint Powers won the overall title, as well as the Division II title (301), while Flushing won the Division I championship (307).
Phil Holloway and Charlie Richards set the pace for the Martians, each shooting a round of 81. They were followed by Ben Richards (83), Nick McElrath (87) and Jared Swanson (90).
The Martians currently lead the GAC golf standings with a total of 40 points in league competition. Mt. Morris is second (30) and LakeVille third (28).
On Oct. 1, Goodrich will compete in the GAC league finals.
