Try as they might, Goodrich’s girls soccer team ran into a formidable foe in regional action Wednesday, June 9.
Flint Powers defeated Goodrich 3-1 in regional action at Frankemuth that day. The Chargers were eventually eliminated by the host Eagles 2-0 in the regional championship game June 11.
The Martians? season ended with a record of 15-5-1.
Things started out badly for the Martians when Powers? Kerry O’Brian beat Goodrich goalie Brittany Beard just two minutes into the game. The Chargers added goals by Kate Ibbotson and Lauren Buck in the second quarter to put the game out of reach.
Goodrich’s lone goal of the game came with less than four minutes remaining in the game, as Amber Beard broke the Powers shutout.
