McDonald’s returns Oct. 8

McDonald’s is back.
At 10 a.m., Oct. 8, the Ortonville McDonald’s Restaurant, 925 S. Ortonville Road, will reopen after extensive renovations.
The public is invited to attend the official ribbon cutting ceremony.
Cindy Villaire, owner/operator of the local eatery for the past 10 years, is eager to show off the new look.
‘There’s a new modern decor inside, more room behind the counter and a line-up of rotating daily, dine-in specials through the end of October,? she said. ‘Highlights of the redesigned restaurant include: new exterior, landscaping that complements the community and a double-lane drive-thru. Inside there will be new lighting, contemporary color schemes that reflect the personality of the brand, along with new furniture with natural finishes.?
During construction all employees remained employed at Villaire’s second McDonald’s location in Metamora.
‘We love this small community’we know many of our customers by name,? she said. ‘We have employed about 50 locally and now with the upgrade to the restaurant we’re adding an additional 20 employees. The double-lane drive-thru should help get customers through at a faster rate.?
McDonald’s strives to get each drive-up customer through in 210 seconds, added Villaire.
‘Here in the Ortonville McDonalds we’re striving for 130 seconds from the time the order is placed until they leave,? she said. ‘We also have an additional 80 feet of drive up space to get customers on their way.?
Also new at the Ortonville McDonald’s will be an updated Playland area and a community bulletin board
When the doors open to the lobby at 10:30 a.m., customers will have a chance to receive giveaways including a VIP key tag with a one-year offer of free pie with an Extra Value Meal purchase. From 6 -8 p.m., customers can enter a photo booth and take home keepsake pictures.
Over the past two years, McDonald’s and its franchisees in Michigan have been remodeling many of the restaurants. By the end of this year, 86 McDonald’s restaurants will have been remodeled across the state.
In 2011, McDonald’s USA announced a $1 billion investment to redesign the majority of its 14,000 U.S. restaurants by 2015. Last year, McDonald’s and its franchisees remodeled 600 restaurants and rebuilt 200 nationwide. In 2012, McDonald’s plans to increase that total, targeting 800 new remodels, 225 rebuilds and 175 new store openings ? a 24 percent total increase in renovations over the previous year.
