A Metamora woman was taken to Crittenton Hospital by American Medical Response after she rear-ended an Oxford man on M-24 near the Oakdell intersection.
Rachel Dempsey, 19, was driving her 1989 Chevy pick-up southbound on M-24 when she collided with 74-year-old Herbert McCallum’s 1998 Chevy. McCallum was stopped while waiting to make a left turn.
According to the report at the Oakland County Sheriff substation, Dempsey stated that she didn’t notice McCallum stopped until it was too late for her to break. She added that she did try to swerve into the next lane, but was unable to avoid the accident.
Dempsey was transported by AMR to Rochester. McCallum was listed on the report as having sustained injuries, but refused medical transport.
Both parties were wearing their seatbelts, and drugs and alcohol were not a factor.
Dempsey was given a hazardous citation.
