Brandon Twp.? With spring weather heating up, so too are the programs at the Brandon Township Library getting hotter.
In addition to the library’s already abundant array of children’s and adult programs, they are now turning the focus on ‘tweens.? These programs are designed for children in the fifth and sixth grade age range.
‘The library is doing their best to keep children safe and occupied in worthwhile endeavors while they are at the library,? Media Relations Director Zoe Pearson said.
‘To do this, we had added several new after school programs that are just wonderful.?
Some of these new programs include a create your own book club, Tween Power Club Tuesdays and Chill Fridays.
‘These are programs that we hope will be around for a long time, and it’s very exciting because we keep adding new programs,? Fran Runnells, the children’s librarian in charge of the programs, said. ‘It really is exciting to be in charge of the youth programs, they are fun and they make it a joy to come to work each day.?
Not only is the library venturing into programs which combine activities, reading and movies, but they are also hosting programs such as a Yu-Gi-Oh! card club and a chess club. ‘The kids are very excited about programs like these, especially the Yu-Gi-Oh! club,? Runnells said.
As the spring moves into summer the library switches gears into a series of programs called ‘Laugh out loud @ your Library.? In this series, the library has hired entertainers, magicians and comedians as well as some area artists to host fun-filled events throughout the coming months.
