Chess Club
From 5-8 p.m., Nov. 21, the Goodrich High School Chess Club is hosting an all-you-can-eat pancake dinner in the high school cafeteria. Christmas in the Village
From 2-6 p.m., Dec. 6, the Ortonville Chamber of Commerce, in cooperation with the Ortonville Downtown Development Authority and the Brandon Township Recreation Department, will host Christmas in the Village 2008, including a holiday parade, Santa’s Gift Shoppe, hay rides and luminaries. 248-625-5700.

Barn service
From 3-5 p.m., Dec. 7, the Mount Bethel United Methodist Church will hold their annual barn service at the Scramlin Farms, 3620 Jossman Road, Holly. The Christmas service will be in the feed barn, which was adjacent to the old barn. Details: 248-627-6700.
