Brandon Twp.- With slow growth in the township, new Building Director Bill Dinnan is keeping busy encouraging residents to finish projects they have seemingly abandoned.
He is also reviewing fee schedules to make sure the fees charged are appropriate for the work performed.
‘Because of a lack of activity, revenue isn’t covering the costs,? said Dinnan, who was hired by the township in September to replace Tim Palulian, who retired in June.
Dinnan, a 57-year-old Springfield Township resident, has 21 years experience as a building director, the past 11 years for the City of Rochester Hills. He semi-retired eight years ago and has been a contractor for municipalities including Livingston County, the Village of Franklin, Springfield Township and Lake Angelus.
In Brandon Township, he will work 8 hours per week, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, doing plan review, building inspections and ordinance enforcement.
In the township this year, permits have been given for five new houses, numerous accessory buildings, and two M-15 businesses in the final planning stages? Subway and Mojo Coffee.
‘There’s not much going on,? said Dinnan. ‘When money loosens up, I would love to see (construction) pick up.?
