OHS Sports Briefs

* Advance tickets for the 2003 Michigan High School Athletic Association Lower Peninsula Individual Wrestling Finals are now available through mail order. All-tournament tickets are $40 each and include parking. Individuals may purchase up to 10 tickets per division for each order form submitted. Forms are available on the MHSAA website at www.mhsaa.com and must be received no later than January 31. All tickets will be mailed out no later than Feb. 24. Special handling can be requested for $6 extra per order.

* The Junior Varsity Volleyball team had a great week beating Lapeer West 2-1 to run their league record to 4-1. The team also took first place in the Richmond tournament on Saturday. Their success was due to great serving by Nicole Bennett, Christine Fortier and Amber Cervantez.

* Freshman basketball lost to Lapeer West 55-50 and then beat Rochester Stoney Creek 53-37. In the West game, Brad Dugan had 25 points and Billy Keenest added 8 points. In the Stoney Creek game, Dugan had 18 points and Tim Shafto had 10. Their record now stands at 3-5.

* The JV Basketball team lost to Flint Kearsley 41-66 and then had a tough loss to Lapeer east on Friday 50-47. Brandon McKay scored 10 points and Brad Kubina had 7 points in the Kearsley game. McKay scored 12 points, Chris Schnur 11 and Dave Wendt 10 in the loss to Lapeer East. Their record now stands at 2-7.

* Freshman volleyball lost to Lapeer West 1-2 during the week. On Saturday they played in the Davison tournament taking second in pool play and then losing in the playoff round to Romeo. Mykala Salquist served at 87 percent accuracy and Jo Maslowsky served at 84 percent accuracy for the day.
