‘One Brandon?

Tim Pizzala knows football.
At the helm of the Brandon Varsity Football team for the past eight years, Pizzala emphasizes the multiple aspects of building a solid athletic program.
‘The rigorous physical demands of any sport is important, but the community support, coaches and parents are really needed to make a team,? he said. ‘It’s about one Brandon. It’s about making Brandon athletes the best it can be.?
Coach Pizzala will be present from 6-8:30 p.m., March 18, as the Brandon School District hosts the first annual coaches and community night at the Brandon High School Auditorium, 1025 S. Ortonville Road. All Brandon School District coaches, community coaches and interested parents are welcome to network, collaborate and work on professional development at the gathering. Coaches for youth sports programs including football, basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, soccer, wrestling, swimming, tennis, cheerleading, pom pon, track and field, cross country, hockey or bowling within the community are encouraged to attend the meeting.
‘It’s about reaching out to the community and forming a means of communication and supporting each other,? said Don Watchowski, Brandon School District athletic director. ‘As we move forward through the sports seasons we realize there are that some who are unaware of the support available. That’s our goal on Wednesday night’to get everyone on the same page and establish improved two way communications.?
The meeting will feature Bob Mancini, regional manager, USA Hockey, former NCAA head coach and the American Development Model, Ben Boudro, director of strength and conditioning at Xceleration and former MSU wrestler. There will also be time to meet the Brandon Varsity head coach of your choice regarding sill development, practice planning, best practices and favorite drills.
