ORTONVILLE – After more than a month of searching through more than 45 applications, the village personnel committee found a new clerk/treasurer and on Monday, March 10 the village council unanimously approved hiring Mary Clark.
Not a newcomer to government tasks, Clark spent more than 20 years working for Oxford Township and is looking forward to working in the small-town atmosphere in Ortonville.
“It will be great working in government,” said Clark. “I really enjoy it and working with people.”
Mary brings with her years of experience as department assistant, clerk, deputy clerk, deputy treasurer and treasurer for Oxford Township.
“I’m very excited to be here,” said Clark. “It seems like a really nice place to work, and nice people to work with.”
Not at all shy with procedures her first day on the job, Clark jumped right in to lend a hand with phones and online county networking.
“Mary has extensive experience and will fit perfectly with us,” said Village President Sue Bess.
Understanding the value of community involvement, Clark and her husband have raised their five children (ages 10 to 28) in the Oxford community. She was also raised in Oxford and is quick to add that her childhood was laced with Brandon Township memories of visiting her grandfather.
Relieved to have a full staff again, Village Manager Paul Zelenak said Clark will be a great addition to the staff.
“I’m looking forward to working with Mary,” said Zelenak. “She is bringing a lot of good experience to the village.”
