Ortonville — The Sherman Park Pickleball Court is now officially open.
On Aug. 11, Brandon Township Parks and the village of Ortonville hosted a ribbon cutting for the courts, which were finished in July.
“This is an exciting time for our community,” said township clerk Roselyn Blair. “We are looking forward to the pickleball programming to come.”
The pickleball courts are open for public use at Sherman Park on Ball Street. They were paid for through 2022 Community Development Block Grant funds for a total of $16,410.
“With those funds we were able to have the area cleaned, surfaced and painted,” said Blair.
The property was previously used as a skate park, but it has been closed for a few years and the skate park equipment was sold. The village of Ortonville is finalizing signage for the courts. The project was completed on time and in budget.
“Thank you all for the dedication to the park,” said Blair.
