Ortonville- Hold on to your skateboards, the skate park isn’t open yet.
A Village Skate Park ordinance says the park opens March 1, weather permitting; however the park will remain closed until further notice, even if the weather is nice. Any skateboarders entering the locked park will be deemed trespassing.
During the village council meeting March 9, a skate park committee was formed, consisting of councilmembers Aileen Champion, Dan Eschmann and Kay Green. The trio will meet this week to discuss whether to hire an employee to supervise the park.
‘We are deciding whether to hire an on-site person,? said Green. ‘If we are, who it will be, how we will go about it, and what we will do. We’re looking at how we want to operate the Skate Park this year. The park will remain closed until a decision is made.?
