Pair pleads guilty in Brandon Township armed robbery case

Two of the three individuals involved in the armed robbery of a Brandon Township man on Thanskgiving Eve have pleaded guilty.
Corey Deandre Shaw, 19, of Pontiac, and Annmarie Elizabeth Hanna, 17, of Burton, pleaded guilty on April 6 to one count each of armed robbery in front of Sixth Circuit Court Judges Denise Langford Morris and John McDonald, respectively. Sentencing is scheduled for April 27, with Shaw facing a minimum of 51 months in prison, and Hanna expected to serve a minimum of 27 months.
Isiah Jamal Brent, the third suspect in the crime, who was arraigned on an armed robbery charge in December, has a pretrial hearing scheduled for April 27 in front of Judge Jessica Cooper.
According to police reports, Brandon deputies responded to Eagle Pointe Plaza, located at M-15 and Glass Road, shortly after 6 p.m., Nov. 26. The 41-year-old victim was at China Fare Restaurant, 1764 Ortonville Road, to pick up a carry-out order. He noticed two young-looking males in the parking lot, but didn’t think much of it. As he returned to his vehicle and was closing the door, he noticed one of the two individuals he’d seen approaching. The man shoved a gun into the victim’s face and demanded money. In fear for his life, he gave the suspect his wallet, which contained $100 in cash, and also his cell phone.
A responding deputy saw one of the suspects, later identified as Shaw, a Pontiac Northern High School student, running eastbound across M-15, south of Glass Road. As the deputy approached him and ordered him to the ground, Shaw began making unsolicited statements, saying he didn’t have a gun and ‘didn’t rob that guy.?
Shaw had the victim’s wallet, but told deputies the other suspect, later identified as Brent, 17, of Detroit, had dropped it and he planned to return it to the victim.
Police investigation led to Hanna, who falsely accused another teen of the crime.
She later confessed to her mother that she conspired with her boyfriend, Shaw, and Brent to commit the armed robbery, and drove the getaway vehicle.
