Goodrich’s hockey team has been turning up the jets offensively in recent action.
In their most recent contest Jan. 29 against Lapeer East, the Martians scored five goals in the first period on their way to a 10-2 defeat of the Eagles, improving their season record to 10-7-1.
Forward Derek Powers led the brigade by notching a hat trick for the Martians, including two goals in the first period. Brian Van Kuren set things up for the Martians with one goal and five assists.
Forwards Max Hawkins and Reece Geml added two goals apiece, while Sean Rollins and Steve Locke added goals for the Martians.
The Martians picked up where they left off Jan. 28, when they defeated host Lake Fenton 7-1 in a Genesee Area Conference contest. Locke headed up the Martians? efforts with two goals and one assist.
Hawkins, Derek James, Steve Tangney, Dennis Berger, and Geml added one goal each.
Goodrich notched a 4-0 shutout of host Carman Ainsworth in a Jan. 26 game. Hawkins, Van Kuren, Zack Pernack, and Locke all scored goals for the Martians, while Brad Smith earned the shutout in goal.
