Resident eyes recall of Goodrich council

Goodrich – A village resident says he will be filing a recall petition aimed at ousting four of five village councilmembers.
Resident Greg Tankersley said he will seek the 200 needed signatures for the petition and hopes to file it in ten days. Named in the petition are councilmen Rick Horton, David Lucik, Pete Morey and President Ed York. Councilwoman, Patricia Wartella, was not named in the recall effort.
‘I have never been happy with the way the Goodrich Village Council runs their meetings and I can’t seem to get any information from them,? said Tankersley.
He added that a confrontation between himself and Clerk Pat Schierup at the Village of Goodrich offices on Sept. 11 isn’t why he has decided to file the recall.
‘I went to the village office to get more clarification on about as many as eight items, just as the village council asked me to do at the Sept. 10 meeting. When I asked for the information, the clerk became agitated, because in her opinion, she had already given me the information. No matter what she thinks of me, she has no right to raise her voice to me. She is an employee there.?
A sheriff’s deputy was called to the office’but no arrest was made following the exchange.
Tankersley said he feels as though everything that comes up at the council meetings has to be confrontational because he can’t seem to get answers.
‘When I ask questions, I am always told by councilmembers, ‘We don’t have that information in front of us.? It feels like they are trying to hide information from me. Fifty percent of the time when I go to the village offices, nobody is there to talk to. They aren’t there during their posted hours,? said Tankersley.
Tankersley feels the four council members he wants to recall stick together on all of their decisions.
‘All of them live close together, mostly on the same streets, and they make sure the cracksealing on their streets is done. When is the council going to fix the twenty-seven cracks at Mill Point Shores??
