Riding to remember

An army of motorcycles roared into downtown Oxford Sunday to commemorate the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and support our troops.
More than 300 bikes participated in the 7th Annual 9-11 Memorial Run raising approximately $9,000 for Operation Care Package Michigan and the Billy Lake Cancer Fund.
Operation Care Package Michigan is a Lapeer-based group that supports U.S. troops stationed overseas by sending letters and care packages.
The Billy Lake Cancer Fund is named for a 44-year-old New York City firefighter who died in the attack on the World Trade Center.
Riders paid $25 per bike to go on what’s known as a poker run, which took them on a 105-mile trip from Oxford to Fostoria, Capac and Almont, then back to Oxford.
