After an injury-prone period, the boy’s varsity lacrosse team is starting to get back on track, says Head Coach Nik Banda.
‘We started off hot this season,? Banda said. ‘But we’re still trying to find our offense.?
The defense, however, is really coming alson, he noted.
The lacrosse team at LOHS is relatively new; this is the fourth year for the varsity sport.
Currently their record is 5-4.
‘We are a young team, and still learning things,? said Banda.
Banda said the team’s taking a high number of penalties, and it comes from the players? tiredness at the end of a game.
‘We’re starting slow, we’re coming out flat every game. It’s gotta stop,? Banda said.
But, he says, there are many positives to the boys? season.
The high point is finding goalie Nick Kinsler. He was recently nominated as the Midwest Goalie of the Week.
Derek Coe is also making headlines this season. Coe is the first Dragons lacrosse player to receive a scholarship from a top university.
‘We are slowly starting to come together as a team,? said Banda.
The boys have three tough matches left, according to the coach.
Their goals for the season: to run the rest of the games, and secure a home play-off game.
Play-offs start mid-May.
