Rough start for new treasurer

Brandon Twp.- Terry Beltramo had less than a smooth start as the new township treasurer? he arrived for his first day on the job on Nov. 20, only to discover all the files in his new office had been mysteriously deleted.
‘The Excel worksheets that we needed, all the balances for the township and county, the financial reports? gone,? said Beltramo. ‘We just found them missing, the first day on the job. We didn’t have anything and even the computers didn’t work.?
Beltramo speculates the files disappeared sometime between Nov. 19 at closing and noon the next day, his first day on the job after being elected treasurer in the Nov. 4 election, ousting incumbent treasurer Linda Owen.
Beltramo had no comment on what may have happened to the files prior to his arrival. Information technology workers were called in and were able to recover most of the files in about six hours, at a cost to the township of $125 per hour.
‘The only thing not recovered is hard copies that we suspect walked away, but they’re not going to cause us any grief, just time and some money to the township,? Beltramo said.
