Rush for Food this Friday

Clarkston football players will be going to neighborhoods around the community this Friday, August 21.
The goal ? collect as much non-perishable food as they can for the 12th Annual Rush for Food event.
The players collected 4,000 pounds of food and household items last year for Lighthouse Emergency Services to help local families. They plan to exceed the number this year.
‘There are so many families in need this summer,? said Jill Goss.
The boys will canvas the area beginning at 6 p.m.
Freshman, JV and Varsity players can easily be spotted wearing their Wolves jersey and going to the following neighborhoods:
*Wyngate
*Oakhurst
*Pine Valley/Woodglen
*Deerwood
*Middle Lake Road
*Lake Waldon
*Bridge Valley
*Softwater Woods
*Harbortown/Peaceful Valley
*Clarkston Ranch Estates
*Sashabaw Creek Meadows/Sashabaw Ridge
*Springlake
*Autumn Shores
*Pebble Creek
Donations can also be dropped off directly at Lighthouse North, off Sashabaw Road at I-75, during normal business hours or during the Rush for Food while players are boxing the donations.
‘It is such a neat thing to see young football players helping the community,? said Goss.
The Clarkston Chiefs Youth Football program assists by collecting personal and paper products.
Springfield Township Kroger donated grocery bags for collecting food.
Clarkston Athletic Boosters donated the water bottles and pop for the Rush dinner for the boys after the collection. Sports Creations and Wright Action Pix are helping to fund the dinner.
Lighthouse tries to give families enough food for three meals for six days, but sometimes has to cut down if donations are low.
