Superstorm Sandy made her presence felt all the way to downtown Clarkston, Tuesday, knocking out power throughout the area.
Clarkston schools and the Clarkston Independence District Library were closed as high winds knocked trees onto power lines. DTE reported 70,000 customers in the region had no electricity.
Drivers treated the Main Street intersection like a four-way stop because the traffic light was out of power. The light at Flemings Lake and Clarkston Road was also out of service.
DTE workers tried restoring power to the library Tuesday morning, but could not offer an estimate of when residents’ lights would come back on.
