The Sashabaw Middle School courtyard will soon have a different look thanks in large part to the SMS students.
‘This was started by the 2000-01 graduating class,? Sashabaw Middle School teacher Brett McCall said. ‘They really wanted to improve the courtyard and make it a place they could be proud of.?
Students developed drawings for the courtyard which were then taken to Bordines Nursery.
‘They combined all the drawings into one master blueprint,? McCall said.
SMS is fundraising by selling ‘Cougar Pride? engraved patio bricks. The money raised will be used to create a wildlife habitat that includes a winding Cougar path created with the personalized bricks.
The courtyard will be developed starting in the Spring of 2003.
McCall said the ground breaking ceremony was a success.
‘I was extremely surprised and happy with the number of people who came out today,? McCall said. ‘It is great to have this kind of support.?
