School construction is on schedule, say officials

A construction update was provided at the Oct. 11 Clarkston Community Schools Board of Education meeting.
? Projects at Andersonville, Bailey Lake and Clarkston Elementary are nearing completion. Projects include roofing, window and door replacement.
? Site work, paving and foundations are in process at the Clarkston High School site. Foundation work for the auxiliary gym and weight room are complete and underground utility installation is underway. The visitor parking lot and bus loop have been paved. The district is on schedule and within the budget allocation at this time, officials said.
? Construction on the 1930s portion of the Community Education Center/Renaissance High School has started. Replacement of the roof and roof deck is underway. Interior demolition continues and the cleaning and brick repair is half-way complete. Duct work and plumbing are underway on the inside of the building.
? The six-classroom addition at Pine Knob Elementary is nearly complete. Crews are in the final stages of inspections and expect furniture delivery within a few weeks. The district plans to begin using new rooms by early December.
? Foundations at Sashabaw Middle School are complete. Masonry walls are almost complete for the new computer lab, music rooms and gym. Masonry walls will continue for the classrooms, cafeteria and media center in the coming weeks. Construction of the new athletic fields to the west of the building are also underway. This project is moving forward and is on schedule for opening at the start of next school year.
? Site work and construction is well underway at the Early Childhood Center/Administration Building. Site utilities and the new parking lot will be completed by the end of October. Foundations have been completed and work will continue in underground plumbing, electrical and masonry.
? In the technology area, the district has installed more than 400 computers at Clarkston High School and the district Data Network System was updated. Workers will install 700 computers at the elementary level. The new security system is nearing completion, as well as 17 new servers and one new Storage Area Network.
