Goodrich-By a 7-0 vote on Monday night the school board voted to accepted a donation of $15,746 from Randy Wise Ford of Ortonville for the purchase of a scoreboard at the Roy U. Stacey Athletic Complex.
The donation offer was made earlier this year; however, the school board vote was postponed until the district policy committee chairperson. ‘There’s an advertisement on the field and it’s been done in good taste. The community has built this facility’it remains theirs.?
The new LED scoreboard will be designed to be multi-faceted to accommodate scores for soccer, football or track. Design and selection of the scoreboard will be the decision of the district and should be completed by the start of the 2014 school year. The agreement includes an 8-year deal that allows Randy Wise Ford the first opportunity to replace the sign if they choose.
Randy Wise, which includes five locations in southeast Michigan, purchased the Ortonville location from Arrant Ford in 2004.

‘It’s a donation done with the support of the policy committee,? said Linda Jackson, school board trustee and policy committee Joe Greene is manager of Randy Wise Ford-Ortonville. ‘We are looking forward to being a part of the community for a long time,? said Greene. ‘We are excited to provide the scoreboard to the school, it’s a way to give back to the community thats supported us for almost a decade. Randy (Wise) has long been an advocate of helping out and providing for the schools.?
In 2004 Randy Wise purchased the long-time Ortonville Ford dealership located at 968 Ortonville Road. Since then, the business has grown, including the construction of a showroom and service area facility.
Over the past years Randy Wise Ford has continued to give back to the local districts. The Drive One 4 UR School event, sponsored by Ford Motor Company and Randy Wise Ford of Ortonville will donate $20 to Brandon High School or Goodrich High School for each person who takes a test-drive in a new Ford. In total, as much as $6,000 could be earned for the Blackhawks. Drivers must be 18 years of age or older and must have a valid driver’s license.
‘The Drive One 4 UR School event is a great way to check out some of our new vehicles and help out the schools,? said Greene.
‘I really appreciate the board’s direction,? Scott Bogner, district superintendent said on Monday. ‘They just don’t have dollar signs in their eyes’there’s a level of control. This is a good way to raise revenues.?
