Sirens now Twp’s

Brandon Twp – Last November, Brandon Township officials suffered from sticker shock when they received a bill from Oakland County totalling $29,916. The bill was for three tornado sirens installed throughout the township since 1992.
‘The sirens were installed in 92, 94, and 96, but we show no evidence of ever being invoiced,? said Ron Lapp, Brandon Township supervisor.
The township responded with a partial payment of $20,000. However, Oakland County immediately responded by demanding payment in full of the original amount.
Lapp said eventually a reduced amount was negotiated and although neither the township nor the county can find evidence of invoices ever being sent, the board voted to pay the reduced bill.
‘The fact remains that Brandon Township does have the sirens in place and the county does a lot of work for us,? said Lapp.
Chief Bob McArthur, of the Brandon Township Fire Department said another siren will be added this year to the northeast quadrant of the township.
