On Thursday, Feb. 17, the boys and girls of the Lake Orion Ski teams competed in the MHSAA Regional competition.
The boys’ team took third place overall, while Marie Dohm, Katie Bruin and Allison Mitchell all placed individually.
Because of their placing, the boys’ team and these three girls will be going to the state finals in Marquette on February 28.

The Lake Orion Ski Teams demonstrated their strength at the Southeastern Michigan Ski League (SEMSL) Divisional competition on February 9 and 10.
The girls? team finished in second place after a tie-breaker, and the boys? team finished in third place.?
The girls team, consisting of Allison Mitchell, Katie Bruin, Caitlin Tice, Marie Dohm, Haley Sullins, Paige Sullins and Alexandra Berquist, earned their second place overall finish with a first place in Giant Slalom, and a third place in Slalom races.?
Meanwhile, the boys? team with Alex Roberts, Michael Roberts, Tyler Draggoo, Dalton Stetsko, Justin Klaus, Ricky Mackowski, Greg Thelen, Justin Pavilsak, and Logan Stetsko, achieved their third place overall finish with a third place in Giant Slalom and a fifth place in Slalom races.
As a result of their performance at divisional, both teams will move on to the SEMSL Championship to be held Tuesday, Feb. 22 at Pine Knob.
The ski team will also be participating in the Michigan High School Athletic Association Regional competitions, to be held Thursday, Feb. 17 at Mt. Holly in Holly.
Successful performances at this event will qualify skiers to advance to the state competitions in Marquette on Monday, Feb. 28.

The Lake Orion Dragons Ski teams raced in the SEMSL League Championship at Pine Knob on Tuesday, Jan. 25, and Wednesday, Jan. 26.
The girl’s team went undefeated, with wins over Cranbrook, 33-41, Detroit Country Day, 40-22, and Rochester Adams, 21-59. They are undefeated this season.
The boy’s team won two of the three match-ups, beating Detroit Country Day, 31-41, and Rochester Adams, 32-45. The only loss was to Cranbrook, 28-47.
