The Clarkston softball team continued to roll last week. The Wolves capped off an undefeated week with a first place finish in the Madonna Tournament.
‘The team is definitely doing well,? Clarkston coach Al Land said. ‘We are playing pretty consistent and when we have down times they are not that long.?
The Wolves captured the tournament title with a 10-0 victory against Carmen-Ainsworth. Kelly Robinson was the winning pitcher.
In earlier action on Sunday, Clarkston knocked off Plymouth Salem 4-3. Kelly Robinson picked up the win in that contest as well.
Jenna Kast led the Wolves with five hits on Sunday.
Clarkston reached the tournament finals on Sunday after three victories on Saturday. In the first game Clarkston beat Plymouth Canton 3-2. Missy Parsons scored on a pass ball in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Clarkston also knocked off Taylor-Kennedy 2-1. A single by Katy Kleinedler scored Amber Giroux to clinch the contest.
Finally, the Wolves knocked off Birmingham Groves 2-1.
‘We won that game with defense,? Land said.
‘We won a lot of close games. We were able to keep our composure and make the plays when we needed to.?
Earlier in the week, Clarkston beat West Bloomfield 10-0 in league action. Heather Giroux and Missy Parsons each had three hits during the contest.
‘We were real aggressive on the bases and were able to create some havoc,? Land said.
Clarkston also beat Lake Orion in a league contest 5-2. Kelly Robinson picked up the win while Courtney Robinson had two hits and two RBI.
‘That was the best defensive game we played. We really played excellent defense,? Land said.
Clarkston is 19-7 on the softball season.
