Streak reaches eight against Mt. Morris

Brandon freshman golfer Laura Kwiatkowski has been the rock anchoring the BHS girls golf team this season.
For the eighth time in as many dual matches this season, she was the medalist in that match. Against Mt. Morris May 13, Kwiatkowski shot 36 as Brandon won the match 195-222. The Blackhawks are now 4-4 overall and 2-2 in the Flint Metro League.

Despite Kwiatkowski’s round of 95 at the May 12 league meet at Heather Highlands, the Blackhawks finished fifth as a team with a combined score of 496. Linden won the tournament with a 420, and also took the regular season title.
The Blackhawks, in their first year as a varsity program, finished fourth overall in the league. Oxford took second, while Lapeer West took third.

For the seventh straight time, Kwiatkowski earned medalist honors, but it didn’t prevent the Blackhawks from dropping a meet to Milford Lakeland.
The Blackhawks fell 189-209 to Lakeland in a May 9 meet at Highland Hills Golf Course. Kwiatkowski shot a 43 to lead Brandon, while Wimble added a 47.
The team brought home its first awards at the Michigan Women’s Publinx Golf Association High School Girls Scramble Tournament, located at Hunter’s Ridge Golf Course.
The team of Katie Lauinger, Jennifer Lauinger and Kemeny took second place in their division with a one over par 72, while the team of Kwiatkowski, Wimble and Prince finished in first place with a seven under par 64.
