Dr. Jeffrey Forman of Clarkston, radiation oncologist with 21st Century Oncology, is recruiting up to 30 men with early-stage prostate cancer for a research study on new treatments.
He is researching shaped-beam technology and real-time monitoring of treatment with GPS markers implanted in the prostate as a way to reduce treatment time from nine weeks to one-and-a-half weeks.
Accelerating radiation treatments for prostate cancer is possible using precisely targeted, increased radiation doses.
New technology to deliver radiation used with GPS guidance pinpoint the prostate’s exact location. Combined, they help to restrict radiation to the prostate and minimize or eliminate unwanted side effects.
Participants will be reviewed extensively for eligibility, and monitored after to determine effect.
Men interested in participating may call 21st Century Oncology at 248-338-0300 for more information.
