An Oxford man and his son were transported Tuesday night to POH Medical Center in Pontiac with minor injuries after their sports utility vehicle rolled over at the intersection of W. Drahner Rd and Augusta Blvd.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s report, the 31-year-old Oxford man and his 12-year-old son were westbound on W. Drahner in a 2001 GMC SUV.
The vehicle was slowing down in order to make a right turn onto Augusta Blvd. ? the entrance to the Paint Creek Village subdivision ? when it was ‘struck in the rear? by a 1991 Chevy driven by a 26-year-old Lake Orion man traveling west at a ‘high rate of speed,? the report stated.
The SUV ‘then rolled over, hit a sign and rested (on the passenger side) in the median on Augusta,? according to the report.
The Lake Orion driver ‘fled the scene? and ‘was later located in the Village of Oxford,? the report stated.
Father and son were taken to POH Medical Center in Pontiac with minor injuries.
The Lake Orion driver was cited for leaving the scene of an injury accident, reckless driving, failure to change the address on his driver’s license, no proof of insurance and ‘defective equipment.?
‘His brakes were bad,? said Deputy Ken Alderman.
A 21-year-old Oxford man witnessed the accident, according to the report.
