Police and fire services in Addison Township received a huge thumbs up in Tuesday’s election as each of the proposed millages was approved by just over 65 percent.
By a margin of 1,006 to 530, Addison voters said ‘yes? to a four-year renewal of their 3.4874-mill police tax. Revenue from this renewal will be used to continue funding the township’s contract with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department.
In a similar vote of confidence, township residents voted 1,032 to 540 to approve an eight-year, 0.75-mill property tax to continue funding their fire department.
The approved fire tax represented a 0.0129-mill increase, which works out to 1.3 cents for every $1,000 of a property’s taxable value.
