The Clarkston Foundation for Public Education is accepting nominations through Monday, May 5, for 2007-2008 ‘Teacher of the Year.?
This year, the award will honor ‘Teachers in a Specialty Area,? including art teachers, music teachers, reading specialists, math specialists, physical education teachers, health teachers, media specialists, special education classroom support teachers, and English as a Second Language teachers. Nominees must be contracted teachers with at least two years teaching experience, and must be currently teaching in the Clarkston school district.
According to eligibility requirements, nominees should create a love of learning in all students, have strong values, integrity and professional ethics, and work well with students, parents, colleagues, administration and community to enhance educational experiences.
The winning teacher, announced by May 30, will receive free use of a car from Suburban Collection of Waterford for a year. Nomination forms are available on at www.clarkston.k12.mi.us, and at any district school and Clarkston State Bank.
This is the 15th year the foundation has sponsored this program. Last year, it honored elementary teachers, and next year’s is set to honor those teaching at the secondary level.
